In the lead-up to the 200-year Clarks’ anniversary, Bianco Bianco filmed a documentary tracing the history of the iconic brand, highlighting the reasons behind Clarks’ popularity in Japan. Helmed by filmmaker Taichi Kimura, the documentary captures a cultural exchange in vivid detail.
The film takes the viewer from the 1960s, when Japan was first introduced to Ivy League prep style, to the ’90s skate boom, thoughtfully tracking Clarks’ involvement along the way. Featuring interviews with key figures such as author David Marx, DJ Daruma, and next-generation designer Kasumi Kouga, they all share their personal knowledge and experiences with Clarks’ designs. The documentary features a custom anime segment by artist Ole (TAKERU SHIBUYA), as well as lookbooks spotlighting both Tokyo’s fashion elders as well as a new generation of tastemakers styled by Kei Hashimoto. This successful campaign has become one of the all-time most viewed pieces of content on Clarks Originals' Instagram with over 75 million views.
